Hey everybody, Ray here with another cover. This is PanetShakers' All That Mattes from the All For Love album. There are certain parts in the cover that I think I went overboard enjoying the song (headbanging) but overall I think it is an ok cover. I didn't completely copy the fills, some of them were just improvised on the spot.

To play this song, you really need to listen to it a couple of times first because the song is really long and has many different parts. There were many parts in which I forgot to play before I recorded it, so just to make sure, listen to it until you got it memorized in your head. That is my advice if anyone plans on playing this song in Church or anywhere for the matter.

So if there is anything hard about the song is to stay in time, because the song in a way tempts you to want to go faster. Other than that, the marching like snare during the beginning is mainly singles with a short diddle on the left hand at the end of every bar count.

This song is from the To The Ends Of The Earth album, although there were a lot of parts which I did not copy exactly like the original. But I think it is close enough to get the grasp of the song and groove. I've changed the camera angle because this camera which I recently bought is much larger and wide screen, which makes it harder for me to show the how drum set and my playing. This is the best angle I can do as it already against the corner the wall and as you can or "cannot" see my other ride cymbal that's on my upper left in my other videos.

This is a drum cover on one of my personal favorites from Lincoln Brewster's album All To You. The song starts with a short roll followed by an interesting tom-tom groove. I basically played it in a 16th note single strokes with accents. I dont exactly know how the drummer did it so I came up with my own and hopefully it is as close as the original. The Rs and Ls that are bolded are to emphasize that you need to hit them louder.

Hey guys, I apologize for not updating recently, I haven't got the time to do much drumming lately. Anyways, just to let you guys know(if you guys dont know), I got 1st Runner Up in the competition, Praise God! I finally got the recording of my performance from my friend, so here it is, I splitted the video into 2 because the file was too big.
1 is the cover of a song and the other is the solo performance.

In my finals, I did a cover with some of my friends on a Christian song "Hillsong United - Take It All" We only managed to jam together on the day before the competition so forgive us if we're a bit sloppy on the song.

And in my solo, It was somewhat improvised on the spot...the only thing that was planned was the independence stuff and the ending of the solo.

I did the Virgil Donati's Parraddiddle independence in the beginning after the triplets I did on the snare.
Left hand and left foot doign the double parraddiddle.
Right hand and foot does the single parraddiddle.

It was pretty hard, to be honest but I finally got it down. But it's still a bit messy. laughs*

Alright, will post new drum covers soon.
Going to the Singapore Drum Festival this weekend.

Hillsong - Here In My Life

Hey everyone...I'm Graham...and this is a drum cover I did of a song called 'Here in my life' by Hillsong. Its a slow song...if you've heard the song before, u should like it. During the intro, remember that the floor tom strokes have to be hit harder at the 4th count...the first 3 should be softer. The 4th stroke is the accent stroke. Around the 4:30 part of the video, remember to play with the floor tom and the snare...this is the part where the song builds up. During that part, the snare strokes are flams. Just keep playin' along to the song...its a very nice song to play. Keep on drumming! God bless!

Another Update

Hey guys, so sorry that we haven't updated anything new lately. Anson is still in Malaysia so he wont be doing any covers for now and Graham is very busy in his studies. As for me, I'm practicing alot for the Singapore Drum Challenge, and once again just wanna say thank you for your prayers, I've made not into the semis but also the finals, so I'll be flying off to Singapore for the finals which is on the 16th of August. As for now, I'm stuck with just my lousy camera that everyone complains about the audio quality, I'll try my best to do the "Hosanna" and "To Know Your Name" covers as soon as possible and hopefully NOT with my camera.

Here's a treat for you guys, a drum video of what I did at the semis, it might not be extremely good quality but at least it's bearable! So here's me doing a minus drum track and straight into my solo. Enjoy!

An Update

Hey guys, I know it's been a while since we've posted any drum covers up but we've been really busy. Anson just came back to Malaysia a few weeks ago so he cant post up any drum covers at the moment. We've met up a couple of times the past few week, shared some drum ideas and had a great time of fellowship. It's been a blessing to see him back in Malaysia...(Sabah, to be specific)

And I (Ray) have been busy with my studies, doing my best to balance my studies and drumming....

Well, what's happening now is that I've joined the Drum Challenge Asia 2008 for the Singapore Drum Fest. I've sent them a 2-min audition video on YouTube. And just yesterday I've been informed that I've made it into the quarter-finals... PRAISE GOD!~

The quarter-finals is on the 12th of July so I'll be flying there very soon. Pray for me that I will be in good shape when I'm there-physically and spiritually. That God's anointing will be on me when I play. Also that I will be humble and not prideful.

The Water Tank

A story is told of a village in a part of the world that is rainy for a small part of the year and dry throughout the rest of the year.

One year the village elders announced a plan: Everyone in the village was to bring a single cup of water to a large tank in the center of the town during the rainy season. Then, when the dry season came and water was scarce, the village would still have water, and they would all share equally the water in the tank.

The villagers all cheered the elders' plan, and it was agreed. The rainy season came and went; dust began to settle on the village, the ground began to crack from the dryness, and water became scarce.

Then the day arrived when the elders agreed that the tank should be opened and the precious water should be shared among the villagers. Everyone gathered around the tank with cups and bowls, with a spirit of celebration was in the air. With great ceremony, the elders opened the tank-and discovered that not a drop of water was to be found inside!

Only then was it learned that no one in the village had agreed with the elders' plan had given a single cup of water. Each had assumed that his or her cup of water would not be missed, and so the water tank had sat empty throughout the rainy season. The village was without water.

It's easy to think that no one will notice our unfaithfulness. It's easy to skip church or not attend a club meeting at school or decide not to fulfill a promise we've made to a friend, thinking “no one will notice” or “it's not a big deal.”

But unfaithfulness doesn't hurt only those who are depending on us; it hurts us, too. If each of the villagers had brought his or her cup of water, that water would have been returned to them all. If you are faithful, you'll receive faithfulness back-from God and from others, many times over.

REFLECT: What do you think would have happened if the villagers in the story above had kept their agreement?

Hey everyone! My name is Graham. This is a really great song. I really like it!...and the beat is not a usual one...it is very different. Listen to it and you'll know what I mean.

Before I recorded this, I listened to it a few times...and also played along to it a few times...then I recorded it. The tricky part was when I had to get used to the unusual timings of the different beats. For example, in the chorus...there are two beats. My favorite part of the song is the bridge (starts around 3:04) because it is a beat that really drives the song...and the bass drum goes together with the bass guitar...it is really nice.

- You turn on the television to watch the latest episode of Heroes and it’s being preempted so the president can talk about meeting with people you’ve never heard of in some place you’ve never heard of to discuss something you don’t care about?

- You told your parents about your God-given dream to become one of the most powerful musician/preacher (Worship Leader) in this world & they just say “That’s stupid! You’re just a kid who knows how to play drums. You live in a small town with nothing special. We’ve never amount to anything & we’ve never done anything spectacular! What makes you think you can become that? Don’t’ waste your time!”

- You put your heart & soul to your drumming & post it on YouTube just to hear tons of people say “you are horrible” or “I can do better than that” or just simply “You suck!”?

Lot’s of things can make you mad. Sometimes it can seem the whole world is waiting for a chance to get on your nerves. But it’s not.

What is happening, though, is that every day you face a lot of choices that challenge your self-control. Self-control is your ability to control your temper & your actions. It’s not like being double-jointed, though, in that “some people are and some people ain’t.” It’s like any choice between right & wrong: Sometimes you make the right choices (exercise self-control), and sometimes you don’t.

No matter how many times something or someone gets on your “last nerve,” no matter how often you’re tempted to lose your cool, or to blow off some steam, you need to recognize that being self-controlled is a choice you make. And, with God’s help, you’ll be able to choose self-control more and more often.

Self-control is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. (See Galatians 5:22-23.) If you’re controlled by God’s Spirit, you’ll have self-control. Does that make you a robot? Certainly not! You still have the freedom to choose self-control or to blow your cool. You can choose what to do: get mad or use self-control. You can heed or ignore the psalmist’s warning, “Don’t sin by letting anger gain control over you. Think about it overnight and remain silent” (Psalm 4:4).

REFLECT: What was the last thing that you got really upset? How did you respond? How could you have responded differently?

PRAY: “Lord, stop me when I start to get angry. Help me to see my choices. And give me strength to make the right choices, especially when _____________. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

What God seeks?

Bible reading : Matthew 18:12-13

As Christians, we often say, “ever since I found the Lord…: And of course, what we really mean is there is a God who loves us. It was like finding Him. But we do not “find” the Lord; He finds us. God was not lost; we were.

If you’re a believer today, the reason for that is because Jesus Christ, the Son of God, sought you out. He looked for you. He found you. Jesus said this in the story of the shepherd with the 100 sheep, he left the 99 and went after the stray (Matthew 18:12-13).

There is another thing God is seeking, and the answer is found in John 4, in the conversation between Jesus and the Samaritan woman. As they were discussing worship, Jesus told her “The hour is coming and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship Him” (John 4:23).

True worship is not merely the singing of worship songs. Rather, it is living our lives in a way what is pleasing to God. In fact, our singing and our prayers are just the outward manifestations of a life daily lived for His glory.

What is God looking for today? He is looking for true worshipers. He is seeking such people to worship him.

Response: Am I willing to worship God by changing the way I live? In what area & how?

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus,

May the meditation of my heart, the words on my lips, and the thoughts of my mind be acceptable to you, my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Hillsong - Break Free

Hey guys...Ray G here. Sorry that I haven't posted any devos or drum vids for the past few weeks, I've been very busy with my studies. Well, here's an update... got some new gears that u will see in this drum cover. I got new China Crash, cost me RM 130(41.09 USD). It's a brand-less china, made in China of course. And the amazing thing is that the crash sounds really good! You can see it yourself in the video below, & I got myself an isolater headphone(Behringer) because the previous one I've 'accidentally' broke it...don't ask me how but I just did. (I still apologize to my friend that I did so).

Alright, this song is very fast-driven, the intro, verse, & instrumental are all played in 16th notes. While the chorus is just a straight rock beat. You might notice that I started playing in traditional grip but later as I enter into the verse, I switched to match grip, reason is because I feel that match grip would be better for this style of drumming; and you might also notice the video would get less brighter on the 2nd minute. I apologize, because I was playing it around 5 PM. Alright, hope you guys enjoy this cover and learn how to play it in your local Church... God bless & Have a blessed day!

Forgive my sloppiness cause I kinda nailed the 2 songs in 3 tries but it's ok. Besides that, I 've got my recording equipment set up which you can tell by the videos, not top of the line but it's somewhere there. Besides that, keep in mind that that I won't be doing LESSONS anymore on videos, just drum covers. Reason to that is because Christian songs in general are easy to play, all 4/4 timing. Planned Neglect !

In her book, A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO PRAYER, Dorothy Haskins tells about a noted concert violinist who was asked the secret of her mastery of the violin. The woman answered the question with two words: "Planned neglect." Then she explained. "There were many things that used to demand my time. When I went to my room after breakfast, I made my bed, straightened the room, dusted, and did whatever seemed necessary. When I finished my work, I turned to my violin practice. That system prevented me from accomplishing what I should on the violin. So I reversed things. I deliberately planned to neglect everything else until my practice period was complete. And that program of planned neglect is the secret of my success."

Most of us would not need much encouragement to neglect housework, but here is a secret to life. You can't do everything! Most of us need to focus on a few things that really matter to our Christian walk and excel in those.

Lord Jesus, help me to focus on those things that will help me in my walk with you. Amen.

How to play really fast, -The Push-Pull Technique

This technique is called the Push-Pull technique. I(Ray) have only started playing this technique for about 4 weeks & I've seen alot of progress in my drumming. Now I no longer feel that burn in my muscles when I want to play fast. So I want to share it with you guys so that you too can do it. (mine my English in the video, I know I sound very foreign. Now, those questions may seem pretty silly for you. But I ask them for a reason. Some people think there is no difference between questions #1,#2, and #3. But there is a huge difference.

The 1st question asks you to make a choice based on your taste. You may like chocolate ice cream, but your sister may like vanilla ice cream best. So who's right? Both of you, because it's a matter of of taste. Whether you're talking about ice-cream, favorite color, favorite songs, different people have different tastes.

The second question asks you to make a choice based on opinion. You may have an opinion about who was the greatest drummer ever, but someone else who is equally informed may have a different opinion. (pretty much some of your fav drummer might not be on the list.)

But the third question is a different kind of question entirely, because it asks you to make a choice involving, not taste or opinion, but right or wrong. You see, some things are a matter of taste or opinion, and others are true beyond the shadow of a doubt. Some things are absolute truths-that means they are true for all people, for all places, for all time. Those things are true no matter what you like or don't like; they're true no matter what your opinion is; they're true absolutely.

Now, there are some people today who claim right or wrong are just a matter of opinion or a matter of taste. But God has already revealed to us in his Word what is absolutely right and what is absolutely wrong.

Act: Always remember that right or wrong are not an opinion or taste. Can you think of 2 actions or attitudes that belong to each category? Right and wrong?

Pray: Dear Lord,
Thank you for your Word that makes the absolute truth absolutely clear. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Heart Of An Overcomer

Read Psalm 51: 10-12...

I know a young man who is gifted and has a great mind bust who just doesn't apply himself. Sound familiar? He sets his sights low and is satisfied with the mediocre. He does enough to be okay and to get by, but he doesn't have the passion to match his potential. As I thought about him the other day, I said to myself, that's the way some of us approach the Christian life-just enough to get by, to just make it. We do enough to be respectable but without the fire in our bosom to match our God-given potential.

God wants us to be intentional and passionate about the pursuit of holiness. He doesn't want us to be lazy about the "little" areas of weakness and sin in our lives that we tend to ignore and manage, nor have a sort of comparative holiness mindset. we say, "I'm not as bad as so and so" or "If I want to, I could be much worse." That's the wrong standard. We're not to be mediocre in our approach to the Christian life.

Psalm 51:10-12 is David's prayer of repentance when he is confronted with his sin to Bathsheba. He uses great passion in his words and is intentional and specific. In other words, he is saying, "God, please don't let me do this again. I want to move toward Your heart."

David expresses three incredible desires. One is a desire for purity: "Create in me a clean heart." David wants a pure heart."-one without stain or hint of sin around him. He doesn't want to entertain anything that's wrong.

Second, David expresses a desire to pursue holiness. "Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me." David wants to be close to God and His presence. He desires to be holier and holier.

Third, David expresses a desire to experience God's pleasure. "restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit." David wants to experience that joy, to know God's delight and pleasure.

Are you satisfied with a mediocre spiritual life, or do you desire more? Ask God today to give you the passion to pursue holiness.----Crawford W. Loritts

REFLECT: In what areas of my life am I lazy and settle for mediocrity? Am I passionate about pursuing His holiness in all areas of my life? Why or why not?

God is at Work

“We thank God continually because, when you received the Word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of man, but as it actually is—the Word of God which is at work in you who believe” (I Thessalonians 2:13 NIV).

When you receive the truth of God’s Word in your heart, it automatically takes root and begins to work in your life! You may not always see it right away. You may not always feel it, but know that God began a good work in you, and He is faithful to complete it. When you are faithful to receive His Word, it opens the door for Him to work. The Bible tells us that the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword. That means, if there’s any confusion in your life, or if anything is unclear, the Word of God will divide the truth from the lies. The Word of God will direct you and light the path you should take. The Psalmist talks about loving the Word of God and making it your meditation night and day. I encourage you to find a few scriptures and write them on note cards. Ask the Lord to make those verses come alive in your heart. As you pursue and love the Word of God, you will see Him working. You will rise higher in every area and live the abundant life He has in store for you.

Prayer: Father in Heaven, thank You for working in my life by the power of Your Word. Thank You for loving and setting me free. I choose to receive Your Word because I know Your Word brings life. I bless You today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Pete was seven years old when his dad sat him down for a talk.

He said, “Pete, if you’ll listen to me, if you’ll let me teach you the game of basketball, you may be able to get a scholarship someday. If you get a scholarship, you’ll be able to get an education. Not only that,” his dad continued, “if you’re good enough, if you’ll listen to me and work and commit yourself to basketball, maybe you’ll end up on the pro level. Maybe you cloud be in the NBA. And Pete, if you play in the NBA, they’ll pay you play basketball.”

At that time-at the age of seven-Pete had already been playing basketball for three years. But from that moment on, he became serious about the game. He played six to ten hours a day during summertime. When everyone else is was out playing or swimming with friends, Pete was in the gym, shooting baskets by himself. He would get up every morning and jog for two miles into town, dribbling a basketball beside him as he ran.. And at seven o’clock in the evening, he’d dribble the basketball all the way home. When he got his 1^st bicycle, he learned to dribble the ball beside the bike as he rode.

As a result of those years of self-control and dedication, “Pistol” Pete Maravich got a scholarship to college. He became the all-time leading scorer in the history of college basketball, setting sixty records in the NCAA. He also became one of the greatest pro basketball players of all time, a five time NBA all-star who was elected to the Basketball Hall Of Fame in 1987.

Now, not everyone can be Pete Maravich. But you don’t have to be him to discover that self-control has a lot of benefits. It can make you a better athlete. It can make you a better student. It can make you a better listener, a better painter, a better drummer. It can make you a better friend. It can make you a better person.

Self-control wont save you from sin; only Jesus can do that. It won’t get you to heaven; only Jesus can do that. But learning to be self-controlled can help you to resist temptation. I t can help you to make the right decisions. And that can win for you a prize that will never fade away.

Pray: “Jesus, thank you for your power in my life. Thank you for helping me to become more self-controlled as I trust in you. Praise you in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

How to Fight Temptation

Temptation

There are 4 steps of temptation from Satan.

He identifies a desire inside you.- a sinful desire

- It only starts when Satan suggests that you give in. (example. You deserve it! You should have it now!)

- Temptation does not lie around us - it is within us.

- If you do not have any internal desires, the temptation could not attract you.

- Temptation always starts in your mind. (Mark 7:21-23 & James 4:1-3)

Doubt

- Satan tries to get you to doubt what God said about the sin. “Is it really wrong? Did God say not to do that?” (Hebrews 3:12)

Deception

- Satan cannot tell the truth!

- He is the Father of lies!

- Anything he says is untrue or half-true. (example. Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden with the snake. The snake said “You will not die! You’ll be wiser like God! You can get way with it. It is only a little sin!)

- A little sin is like saying you’re a little pregnant – It will eventually show itself!

Disobedience

- You finally act though as if you’ve been toying in your mind!

- You gave in to whatever got your attention.

- You believed Satan’s lies and fall into the trap that in the book of James warn us about! (James 1:14-16)

Overcoming Temptation

Understanding how temptation works in itself is already helpful= but there are specific steps to overcome it!

Refuse to be intimidated

- Being tempted is not a sin!

- This is a misunderstanding in maturity.

- You will never outgrow temptation.

- But take temptation as a compliment.

- Satan does not have to tempt those who are already doing evil.

- It is a sign that Satan hates you, not a sign of weakness when your tempted.

- It is normal part in being human

- “Guys” Do not feel guilty about your God-given hormones.

- When you notice an attractive girl – do not assume that it is lust and feel condemned and ashamed.

- Attraction is not lust until you begin to dwell in it.

- The closer you grow to God, the more Satan will try to tempt you.

- Sometimes while you are praying, Satan will suggest a weird or evil thought just to distract you and shame you.

- Do not feel guilty, but realize that Satan fears your prayers & will do anything to stop it.

- Instead of condemning yourself; treat it as a distraction & immediately refocus on God

Recognize the pattern of temptation & be prepared for it.

- Satan surely knows what trips you up, and he is constantly getting you into those circumstances. (1 Peter 5:8)

- Ask Yourself!
Where I am most tempted?
When am I most tempted
What day of the week
What time of the day

- Identify the typical pattern of temptation and avoid those situations as much as possible. (Proverbs 16:17)

Request God’s help

- Heaven has a 24 hour hotline. (Psalms 50:15)

- Do not be embarrassed to ask God for help just because you keep on sinning the same sin over & over.

- God never gets irritated or angry when we come back to Him.

- He will still give mercy and grace, so come boldly.

- Temptations keep us dependent on God.

- Just as the roots of the tree grow stronger when the wind blows against it.

- Whenever it is that you stumble – which you will – it’s not fatal!

- Instead of giving up, look up to God, expect him to help you, and remember the reward that is waiting for you in eternity.

Overcoming Evil With Good

1 Peter 4:8

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

A pastor of a Church called up a restaurant one night to order a pizza. He often ordered pizzas from a particular restaurant, and each time he placed an order, the clerk would ask for his phone number. He got into the habit of giving them his phone number right up front so that he could save a bit of time.

On that particular night, a woman answered the phone. The pastor politely said, “Hello, my number is 241…”

“Sir, I am not ready to take your number!” the woman snarled into the phone. “And when I get ready for your number, I will ask for your phone number!”

This pastor could hardly believe that someone working with public could be so rude! His initial instinct was to respond, “Listen, LADY! I’ll give you my number whenever I feel like it. I’ll call you with my phone number at 3 o’clock in the morning if I want to!” His mind instantly thought of ordering about 20 or 30 pizza and them to the wrong addresses. In his imagination, he could see that lady running all over town attempting to deliver the pizzas to people who hadn’t ordered them.

Fortunately, he was able to maintain his composure. He kept telling himself. “You’re a pastor of a Church, BEHAVE!”

He didn’t always do what’s right, but in this case, he made a decision that he was going to overcome evil with good. He recognized that the woman was just having a bad day; something was bothering her that had nothing to do with the phone number issue. So this pastor decided to be the solution & not the problem. He took her in a mission project, to cheer her up in all that he could do.

He began complementing her work. He said things like, “You made the best pizzas in the world. I’ve been ordering from you folks for year, and your food is wonderful. Your delivery is great; you are always on time; you’re running a 1^st class operation.” On and on he went, trying to encourage her. He said, “I appreciate you being so efficient in answering the phone so quickly. And I’ll tell you, when I talk to your boss, I’m going to put it a word for you so that he would give you a raise.” By the time he got through, she not only took his phone number, she also threw in some hot chicken wings, sodas and coupons for pizza!

That’s overcoming evil with good. He didn’t know what she was dealing with at work or at home. Who knows what was going on in her personal life? But it wasn’t hard to figure out that she was having a bad day. She needed somebody to encourage her, to cheer her up, to let her know that she mattered, and to tell her that she was good at her job. That pizza was a small matter, but it was a giant opportunity for that pastor to share God’s kindness with the woman who needed it.

The Bible says in 1 Peter 4:8 that “…love covers over a multitude of sins.” That’s not always easy but love believes the best in every person. Anybody can return evil with evil, but God wants His people to help heal wounded hearts. And this is exactly what we should do in our everyday lives. And continually to love the other person just like God has loved you. Amen!

Anson & I are currently very busy with our studies, Ruben's drum kit needs to be repaired so he wont be on the scene for a while (please do pray for him & his drum kit fixed as soon as possible), we hope that y'all will continue to visit our site as we have just started weekly devotional messages that we are totally committed to make it Bible-based & to enrich your lives.

A Gift From God

Do not neglect your gift…” (I Timothy 4:14).

God has equipped each one of us with specific gifts and talents. It’s up to you to not only to identify those gifts, but to be disciplined to develop those gifts. You have to learn to stay in your strength zone. What are you naturally good at? What do you enjoy doing? Take the time to identify your strengths and weaknesses and as the scripture says, give yourself to your gifts. In other words, don’t spend all your time trying to improve your weaknesses. Don’t waste valuable days pursuing things that are outside your main gifting. Focus on your strengths. There is something that you’re good at naturally—something you can do that comes easy to you. Step out into your area of gifting. Are you good with people? Are you good with your hands? Do you have a great voice? Are you good with a music (drums)? Find ways to develop those gifts. Know that your gifts and talents are a part of your divine destiny. If you’ll be comfortable with who God made you to be, and thank Him for your unique gifting, you’ll not only enjoy your life more, but you’ll be ready to receive the abundant blessing God has in store for you!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for equipping me with everything I need to be successful in this life. I ask that You show me how to develop the gifts within me for Your glory. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

What’s the best Christmas gift you’ve ever gotten?

Was it a pair of drumsticks? A Sony PlayStation 2 or 3? A Nitendo Wii? A brand new DRUM KIT custom made with your name carved on it!!!

What’s the best Christmas gift you’ve ever given?

Was it something you made yourself, or did you save up for a long time to buy it? Was it the “perfect gift” for that person? Was it special because of the thought you put into it? Was it special because of the other person’s joy at receiving it? Or was it special for some other reason?

Well, believe it or not, the best Christmas gift you’ve ever been given wasn’t a toy, or a game, or a drum kit. On the first Christmas morning centuries ago, God gave you a gift that cost more than all the money in the world. He could have gotten off cheaper by wrapping all the stars and the planets and dropping them on your doorstep. He could have economized by sweeping all the gold & silver and diamonds in the world into a big pile in your front yard. But he didn’t. He gave you the most generous gift that’s ever been given: Jesus, his Son.

God showed you two things by sending his Son as his Christmas gift to you:

1. He showed you that he loves you more than you can imagine (1 John 4:9); and

this is Anson here. I understand I haven't been putting up videos and stuff cause I've been busy with school. Finals are about 2 weeks and after that I'll be free.

One of my favorite Gospel band of all time and church is just a 20 minutes drive away for me ! Anyways, I'm very sure most people know this song. There's no need to explain the awesome-ness of it.

The base beat for this song is a simple 4/4 BD SN. I personally, would recommend, if your drums aren't miced, don't use that beat. Add more bass drum to it. If you are miced, use the base beat and turn up the bass drum! Have fun!

I'm sorry for being away for like 3 weeks guys, been busy with exams and stuff and I apologise for the "dead mood" of this website. Like I said, I can't be doing this all myself and I need some contributions. Be it in editing videos or just drumming away, all welcomed!

Here's a little acoustic song for you guys to play along to. It's all about the dynamics and your feel towards this song. Personally, I love it with a little funk/rock fusion in it and some hi hat work around it. There's nothing much to learn in this song besides the beat but just to give you an idea of how I approach differently in this song. A lil off, I know, I haven't been practicing!

Okay, since the previous drum cover of Solution was not very good...I went back & re-did the whole video & this is the best that I can do... it's not not perfect but I believe it's better than the last one by a long shot...

The drum break down, the 1st verse is in 16th note, but it can also be done in 8th note...so I did the beat in both ways so that if anyone find it difficult to play the 16th note one can play the 8th note style... that's about it for the drum cover & break down.

This is a very fast song, so I suggest you use the metronome to play this song. Because I've attempted the song countless times & it usually went out of tempo. But by the grace of God I manage to do it well for this cover. I use some double pedaling in the instrumental part because it just felt like it should be part of the groove. So for those who dont have a double pedal...just do the first beat of the instrumental part that I was doing in this video. This song is a very nice jumpin' praise song. It's not that easy, but it's not that hard either. Just practice the beats in a slower tempo to get the feel of the groove, then start playing faster until you can play the original speed. I added some other diff fills to this song rather than using the original, it apparently went ali'l bit out of sync halfway. I seriously hope I can improve in both drumming & video editing! This song requires some fast hands. So what I recommend is to practice slowly with a metronome and be very relax while playing this song. No tensed up muscles, you'll just lose the feel for this song. It's actually pretty easy, just lots of fast single stroke rolls. So enjoy!

A friend of mine and I have lots of requests for this song, especially the intro. This song is gonna take a while to actually "click" to because of the intro. Lot's of busy bass work going on, definitely needs some practice and lots of warm up before playing this song. It's totally different from the Hillsong version, this one has the "youth-y" feel, lots of energy and power to it. So check it out. Ignore the mistake at the end by the way.

Made a few mistakes in the song, but it's for God so what does it matter. There are a lot of ways you can play this song. Hillsong United's drummer opens his hi-hat's during the verse. In the instructional video you can see three different ways.

This is probably one of my favourite Youth Alive song. I used to play this song everyday because it had a very simple & yet nice beat & a catchy tune to it. Although there were some part of the fills that are not accurate, I improvised a li'l on the fill part. You can notice that the drumming fill of the original is different. Just be creative & don't always use their fills. Unless you have no idea to fill the song with your own , then use their fills. Just be creative! All for the Glory of God! :) ENJOY!

Planet Shakers - Praise You

One cool way I learned about playing this song during the Planet Shakers - Planet Worship Conference, Kuala Lumpur 2007 is to put a drum break in the second chorus during the , "I WILL PRAISE YOU!" part so you can hear the whole congregation/crowd shout it! It's not as clear in the recording but you get the point! It's quite a bit of double pedal footwork going on for some drummers, but you can always try to make something up and come up close! Remember, be creative!

Mike Webber plays some double pedals and uses an auxiliary hi-hat in the original recording during the verse, if you notice it in the DVD or can hear it for yourself. I've broken down 2 parts, one is a version without the double pedals so it can be easier on non-double bass players and not be too busy during the song and a version with double pedals, the ride as the axillary hi-hat because I don't have one :)

Very fun song to play around with, especially the "Oh Pra-ai-ai-aise Him!" chant, mix around and be creative with the drums! Have fun!

This is the first lesson for this site! Majesty by Planet Shakers!
This has got to be one of my favorite songs of all time! When I hear the song, it just makes me wanna dance, get up on my feet and I can feel all that blood rushing through my head telling me to start dancing!
Yes it does have a simple disco 4/4 beat but if you know how to add simple little fills, exciting new colors to this song, it will be so fun to play. I've probably played this song more than a 100 times and I've never got bored of it. I'm always trying new stuff on this song.

The site layout and teachings will be based on the Guitarpraise site. But for now, I have no idea how to use Blogger and I'm bad with HTML.
